Florida's Citizens Property Insurance Consumer Services Committee to Review AOB Education Campaign, Begin Self-Service Program Rollout
Date Published: 03-20-2017
According to Florida's Citizens Property Insurance Corporation ("Citizens"), the State-run insurer's self-service capabilities and associated transaction volumes are well behind industry benchmarks for policyholders.
To initiate efforts toward change, Citizens' Consumer Services Committee will review a proposed feasibility study plan during its March 23, 2017 meeting that would implement a self-service strategy over the course of the next two years. This would ultimately enable Citizens' policyholders to self-report claims, view their claims status, print policy documents and pay bills electronically, among 30 self-service actions currently being considered for incorporation into the plan.

The Committee will also review progress to date on Citizens' efforts to educate and inform legislators, policyholders, and other interested parties and stakeholders on problems surrounding the assignment of benefits ("AOB") issue currently being debated in the Florida Legislature.
